Default anyone else here have an eclipse 8445?

love the h/u but i have horrible reception on radio. i mean i only get two sometimes three channels.
my previous h/u, 8051, i had for over 3 yrs and was in several cars. it never had great reception but this is ridiculous.
anyone else in the same boat? is there an adapter? i ddint need one for the 8051 but am wondering if the new eclipse line needs one.

I have an 8445 in each of my cars. FM reception is great. Did you install it yourself? Did you make sure to plug the antenna in? (I'm serious) Did you isolate the outboard box from power/signal cables? (more of a noise issue than reception). My guess would be the antenna was not connected or has come loose. That or you're running something else in-line with the antenna like a FM modulator, for example. As for an adaptor, you may need one. I know the Bose radio from my Pathfinder required a special antenna adaptor. My Z didn't have the Bose radio and did not require an adaptor.

yeah i installed it myself
someone on another forum asked the antenna question and i was like" crap of course, that has to be what i forgot" but then i pulled the dash off and it was in. and my z doesnt have a bose radio so i guess i should be good on the adapter. when i pulled the dash off i took the antenna out and put it back in and to me it really doesnt seem like it goes all the way in but....

I have one as well. Did you hook-up the power antenna wire? Without this wire hooked up the reception will be very shoody.

Don't fret to much. Mine's not perfect either. I hadn't really used the radio much since I installed mine, but last night I figured I'd give it a good test. Reception is not good for me either. Not terrible, but there are spots where reception fades or breaks up... Good thing I don't listen to the radio often, hope you're in the same boat.

well one of the two channels i get is the local rock station so when i do listen to the radio it usually suffices. i do listen to mostly cds or ipod though. except in the morning i listen to the morning show on the rock station.
just sucks for whne my g/f is in the car bc she doesnt like most of my cd's and also bc i cant get the classic rock station. other than those two reasons i dont really care. just kinda curious as to why its so bad?
