I have read almost all of this thread and am so confused. I have an 03 Touring without the amp fix. I do not want to loose my bass and really don't listen to the radio much so should I get the updated amp or not? I saw some people posted that there was a new fix, do they mean besides the amp replacement or what? Also a lot of mixed reviews on the resistor fix, this is kinda scary so I rather not mess with it. Also just to add my .2 cents I think the radio problem everyone is having is not due to the Autopilot but the actual radio its self, I recently traded an 04 Nissan Titan for my 03 Z and noticed the same loud bass coming from the radio. Although the Titan did not have a Bose or Rockford system when I tried to listen to the radio the quality was very low and the bass was very high however when I listened to CD's it was a different story, the quality was great for a stocker, same goes for the Z. Might it be that the radio portion is made by a different company and Bose works around this? Only thing I noticed that really bothered me was the distorted high bass voice coming from the Navi, my guess is it might be connected to the radio portion of the system somehow via cable or radio frequency or plays it off the same output since the CD is being used giving it the same low quality? Just a guess??? Any comments or suggestion would be very much appreciated. I thank all you guys for trying to find a fix for this problem.
PS - When did Nissan add the Autopilot ON/OFF function? Could I not just buy one and swap head units. I have seen several of the newer models on E-Bay for resonable prices?

Late, but here is the answer : audio pilot on/off came with the V2 BOSE HU on the 2004.5 cars to end of 2005.
Original HU : 2003 to 2004.5 : AM/FM button
second HU : 2004.5 to 2005 : RADIO button AudioP on/off
2006 cars now have a changed HU that you can distinguish for the curved corners.
So the fix talked about on this thread is for the 2003 to 2004.5 unit.
The 2004.5 to 2005 HU plugs right into the old one. It can be had used around the classifieds for cheap from people who replace their BOSE systems. It also has the added benefit that you can hook up a PAC NISS unit to have AUX inputs for the iPod.
The 2006 unit adds MP3 play. The jury is still out if it plugs directly to older models. The facia on the console has to be replaced to adjust to the unit corners.

Yeah the later 2004.5 forward is actually black, since it seems the console color changed. I put it on mine and doesn't look bad (to my taste), since it goes well with the grey and matches all the other black in the cabin. I can take a pict when I get home if it helps... But you can definetly tell it is black vs the grey console. (Except at night when everything is black... )

Ive spend 1100€ on my car for an amp speekers sub 7"tft carputer...
ALL SOUNDED CRAP !!!!!
ITS A LIVE ACTIVE CROSSOVER THAT MESSES WITH THE MUSIC WHEN THE VOLUME IS GOING UP. IT PROTECTS THE BOSE SUB THOUGH SO IS
NOT RECOMENTED IF YOU DONT USE AN ADITIONAL AMP AND SUBWOOFER
THE ,20 RESISTOR WAS THE BEST THING INSTALLED ON MY CAR BY FAAAAAAR. THANKS MAN YOU MADE MY DAY WEEK MONTH YEAR

i was wondering if this fix would work with the setup i have. I have a pioneer deck but with the stock bose speaker system with the sub. Now i looked under the steering wheel and i do have that bose mic thing i have a 2003 touring. Now my sound doesn't auto pilot now because of the pioneer deck but my question is, i was wondering if this fix would improve my subwoofer bass a little more?
