Get the serial number and you can look it up on the V1 site and they'll tell you what features it has and doesn't have when they give you the upgrade price.

+1 ..you just need the serial to tell which version it is. From what I've seen on Ebay, they hold their value really well, so maybe better off buying from Valentine. Ask them for a 30 day return unit, it's 10% off

ok so i checked the VIN provided by the seller.. this is what came up:

V1 Description: Radar circuitry known in-house as V1.7 gives high performance on all radar bands. Also,it remembers your “mode” setting when shut off. Has stack of four LEDs on front panel for band identification. Front and rear laser.

Upgrade Recommendation: While this version is not quite up to today’s V1 standard for Ka, it’s almost always good enough, and always better than detectors from other makers. X and K performance is excellent. Upgrading merely to improve radar performance is not cost effective, in my opinion, unless you’re concerned about the POP Mode operating in your area. Upgrading does bring other benefits, including our latest laser warning (front and rear), which outperforms the competitors by a wide margin, and POP Protection. Also, you'll get the new Euro Mode.

so if i dont upgrade, what are my downsides? correct me if i misunderstood, but IF i dont upgrade, both and front detectors wont work?
the upgrade is $189 by the way

if i dont need an upgrade, the deal is awesome at $200 !!

she said shes had it since 2001.. so i dont know..

the prices are rediculous.. $400 for a new one i believe.. and many used ones are selling on ebay for about $300

lol and then there are those idiots who are selling them for over 400 buy it now and charge 302490324930493 dollars for shipping

You might as well buy new. The decent used ones are like 300-350 anywayz. Just save the pain and headaches and buy new.

Call Valentine Research at 1 800 331 3030 and ask for a returned V1 and you will get 10% off the retail price of $399. It will be the latest version V1.8 POP2 w/ Euro-mode and 3.826 firmware and that comes with all the accessories and a 1 year warranty.
