Default starting my carputer adventure

i have just recently decided that the next mod i do to my car is going to be a carputer with a 7 inch touch screen... i am going to have mp3/dvd/GPS/reverse camera/wireless internet/bluetooth/OBDII/ and we will see waht else...this is just the current plan that i am researching...and i am looking to start buying parts in a couple weeks... i am sure i will have many questions that i will get the answers to either here or on mp3car.com, so thanks in advance...anyone have any strong feelings or suggestions i should probably consider with this? or what do you guys consider the most important thing to make sure i get...thanks all, and wish me luck

I looked into it and I think the solution offered by mp3car is the best option for a no hassel carputer. I couldnt get any feed back on the sound card they used but it looks like I could upgrade the thing on my own anyway.

I would buy all the parts on NEWEGG and build it using one of the parcel boxes in the back as the case. that is what I am planning on doing. I am going to put in a slim dvd drive in the center console armrest storage box. Right now Im just waiting on a dash kit for the 2006 dash to install a HU to use with the PC.

Like you, I am still in the planning stages of this. good luck.

Thumbs up Car PC

I currently have a Zpc installed and has been in use now for 2 years. OBD2, Internet, touchscreen, Webcam.. I love it. I installed the Dvdr/w in the center console. The Pc is in the old sub box, took out the sub frame and ran power to that area. Works Great. Recommend you power your screen from a Protected power supply. I have the Opus 120, its great. I run the pc and the screen form that power supply. No surges at start or screen flickers. I have USB ports in the center cosole near the ashtray. Good luck with the Install. let me know if you have any questions
