Default Basslink Remote

I just got a Basslink II and noticed that it comes with a small remote control box. My question is what does this remote do that my AVN5500 can't? I assume the AVN has subwoofer controls so do I need this separate remote? Does it provide any extra functionality?

Thanks.

i found the remote to work great. it allows you to easily adjust the bass level to compensate for different inputs and signal levels.for instance, here in vegas the radio stations all have their output signal at different levels.so the bass may sound perfect on a pop station but when you switch to a hip hop station it may be too heavy.also i have found cd's to vary widely in the amount of bass they have on various tracks.so instead of having to go to my deck settings and screw with them, i just give the dial a twist.voila, perfect bass.this also keeps me from having to look at my deck while driving. i have it mounted inside my center console out of sight but a quik flip of the lid and you can dial it in by feel.an excellent feature and it's one of the reasons i bought the basslink.
