2006 non-bose HU question
Does the '06 non-bose HU have subwoofer outputs? I've also searched for a guide for removing the HU but I haven't had any luck. If someone could give me instructions for removal I'd appreciate it.
I'm swapping out all my speakers with aftermarket ones. I've got a 4-channel amp for the speakers. I also have a 10" sub with a 2 channel amp. If the stock HU doesn't have sub outputs will I need to purchase a crossover for the sub?
I'm also having trouble finding a '06 dash kit. Is there a website to purchase them? ebay?
Thanks for the help

2006 Door Panel Removal
Can someone who has an '06 tell me how to remove the door panels? The instructions that can be found by searching are NOT for the '06. I just did a little damage to the door trying to remove it following those old instructions
I can't find any screws holding it on unless there's one under the rubber plug that appears when you pull back the door handle. I couldn't remove that plug so I couldn't tell if there was a screw there. The entire door panel will almost remove just by pulling out on it until you have released the latches. Someone who has removed the 2006 door panels tell me how it's done. Thanks

From the information I've gathered so far it's best to go with an aftermarket HU. You can still run a sub off the stock HU..I assume you tap into the rear speakers but the quality wont be as good. I'd really like for one of the more experienced members of this forum to help us out but I guess they have better things to do then help "newbs"
I'm still searching for the dashkit for the '06 models & '06 door panel removal instructions.

Removing the 06 door panels is basically the same with some minor variations. You must have a trim removal tool. The first step is to remove the power window switch module (with the trim removal tool - it just pops out) and then remove the little plastic piece behind the door handle. That will reveal all the bolts/screws you need to remove. Then, you can pop the door off with a trim removal tool. Passenger is similar: remove the silver trim insert on the handle to reveal the bolts you need to remove.
Also note that the service manual for the '06 is wrong on both the door and center console removal.
Neither the Bose nor the non-Bose HU has sub outputs. The Bose unit only has 4 speaker-level outputs. Those feed the factory amp in the rear of the vehicle. The sub amp is fed a signal from the amp that powers the highs.
If you connect an aftermarket HU to the Bose amps+speakers, I suspect it will sound horrible, but I've never done it so I can't confirm.

The 06 non-bose HU does not have RCA outputs. I recently hooked up an amp/sub to my head unit by tapping into the rear speakers. I spliced a line out converter into the speaker wires going to the rear speakers. From this, I connected the RCA's to the amp, and hooked up my sub to that. The results are pretty good. I am happy with the output of the stock stereo now.
