Default Rear-view camera, any use this one?

http://www.rearviewsystems.com/coflmocajare.html

If it's a quality camera and if the kit is compatible with my HU (Alpine IVA-W200) then it seems like it's worth it. Nice flush mount on the plate and clean looking kit.

What do you guys think? Or what else would you recommend?

There is a license plate frame you can get that has the camera built in, bypassing the need to bore a hole into your car, I'll try to find a link to the thread where it was discusssed. I would avoid putting a hole in your bumper, even if it is behind the license plate and I do believe it is about $200. Considerably less than the one you are checking out.

Here is a link to one of the frames with an integrated camera built in:
http://www.autoanything.com/licensep...A2316A0A0.aspx

Just do a google search for "backup camera in frame" and you should get tons of results.

I appreciate the tip.. I think I've seen the one you were referring to. The integrated frames are usually kinda fugly though, IMHO. I don't mind putting a hole behind the plate. I never part stuff out when I sell cars so it will always be a complete system (no wondering why there is a hole behind the plate).

I'm all for the cleanest install possible, with the best equipment I can find.

From what little is discerned in my HU manual, almost anything with an aux camera plug should work, and the W200 is ready for it (even has reverse light pickup). Just need to pick the camera now.

Thx!

$350? you can get a build in cam in the licence plate holder for $250. Quality is much better. 120 degrees wideangle with night vision.

I use it and few other members here use it too. We all love it.

I started the other reverse camera thread a few days ago. That was more about how and where to mount. I already have an eclipse one for my Z, but would love to hear more about the license plate camera for my Murano. Is the Mito considered the best? Seems pricey.

Bubble...any side angles of that one? That was the one I remembered from before. Does that frame come in black? How far does that camera piece stick out from the license plate frame?

Thx

they come in black. The camera piece stick out just a bit. I would say 1/2" max.

Link? I'd like to see what it looks like in black. I just can't get used to the way the chrome looks.

Plus, you end up drilling a hole for the wiring anyway, right? I don't see anything running up to merge with the electrical harness above the plate. So did you drill behind the plate?

Thx

I think I may get this one.. it looks pretty slick, and seems to get good reviews for the camera.

It's the Mito 20LP100

Really surprised you couldn't find that through a google search. Did you try going to www.google.com? You should check it out! You'd be amazed at how much stuff you can find on your own.

And given the number of questions you have let me suggest that you are not ready to buy.

No this is not all you need.

I can't tell you if this will work with your system. I recommend you call either the cam manufacturer and/or the manufacturer of your current audio/video solution and ask them.

Cheers

Point well taken... my reasons for it are twofold.. a) it's cool. My HU supports it and the upgrade really doesn't cost much. b) it is useful. I have a spoiler, etc so rear vision is a little limited. I don't NEED it, per se, but especially when backing out of my driveway it would be super helpful.

In Dallas our driveways go to alleys which go to the street. My neighbor across the alley (so, across from my driveway) built a giant fort of an automatic gate. So even though he needs our driveway to allow him enough room to back out, I have to make a 3 point turn to get out when his gate is closed. The cam will help me make that a 2 point or less turn since I'll be able to see the rump a little better.
