hey guys...best buy has a Kenwood 717 flipout Headunit 7'' dvd/mp3/etc...
for $900 just for the unit....u think i should get it? or get sumthing better?...i want sumthing decent....but idk what to get or look at....dont wana spend to much...but willing to pay up to $1500 for a unit....can sumone help me out...

 

Alpine IVA double din looks much much better in my opinion.

It costs right around 1100 or less in stores.

 

Give us the features and technical specs. I'll let you know if it's worth it.

the kenwood is a nice unit but i think there are better ones out there, ie: alpine, pioneer, eclipse

 

I have that the KVT717 and it's a good head unit... never had any problems what so ever... if u do decide to get it, u should buy the GPS add on it's worth it.$900 for the HU is a pretty good price, i dont think u would be able to find it else where for much cheaper...

 

should i go for this or Alpine? 310 unit?

 

why don't you get the Kenwood DDX 8017. Doube Din. Touch Screen. Top of the line for around $1200.

 

One thing I would check is if you are able to play MP3s off of a DVD. So some inexplicable reason Pioneer has decided that you shouldn't be able to read MP3's off of the $2200(retail) AVIC-Z1, even though it reads them off a CD fine. This is a huge pet peave I have with this system; that and its inablity to directly copy MP3's to the onboard Hard Drive.

 

The HU has some nice features. If you're running amps, the 5v pre-outs will provide good output pwr signals from your HU. Is the radio XM or Sirus ready?

 

Not sure if this applies to this model but alot of these units have control units hidden away. Sometimes epople will sele the head unit only and not the control; unit

TURN IT DOWN. Get Kendwood DDX 8017. You will happy with it.

 

dont want a double din.....i know it would be ideal but i always liked the flip out units better...which is weird....can anyone help me out....esp wit flipout units?
