I have a 2006 and I just order the Pioneer AVIC-Z1. Doing some reseach I found that there is not really a nice & Clean way to Bypass the security on this UNIT.

However this seen to me that it just disable the GPS, (So the car think that is no moving) this way you can use the DVD and Enter some address, However the Navegation won't really work until the switch is place on off again. which mean no dvd anymore.

The Flashing light mod doesn't really do it for me, it seen kind of lame to have to do that everytime.

Does anyone know of a better way?

Yes, go to www.avic411.com theres a guy making them. It will send a tripple flash signal to the unit durring start-up.

 

I belive you can aquire a PAC (company name) TR7 (model number). The illumination lead needs three positive pulses (just like you flashing your lights at startup. With the PAC TR7 you can configure this little unit to deliver those three positive pulses without touching your lights.

Thanks G35, I read that forum and I saw that little mod. However I was looking for something that actually doesn't disable the GSP or need to flash the lights. (doing that will actually reduce the live cycle of the bulbs) .

I'm an electrical engineer , the mod form avic411.com is really easy to make, however I believe it should be a way that doesn't actually involve the lights (or the GPS antenna). However this is very expensive unit to experiment on it.

Anyway if I can get my hand on the user manual and some schematics of the connection I think we can develop a small unit that will simulate the light flashing without actually flashing the lights.

I’ll keep update the post as this develops, meanwhile any documentation and information is appreciated.

EDITED: Steve, the PAC TR7 looks like a more clean bypass, thanks I'll check it out.

 

Maturola, it does not flash the lights, or disable the GPS. It sends a signal through the dim wire three times, making the Z1 believe the lights are being flashed.

 

What they're saying is someone has already developed this unit, so you can just buy it

I took a closer look to the Unit at avic411.com and you are 100% right guys this unit actually does that without touching the lights. I apologies for posting without reading the full thing .

I will be making one myself, however this unit does it great .

 

I've got the bypass unit from Ducati Boy on AVIC411.com and it works great. I did screw up the install though because even though I grounded the nav unit to the chassis I used the "ground" wire on the wiring harness and it ends up it doesn't connect to anything. After I fixed that it works fantastically.
