I agree, he is an idiot...lol. but i took it to another installer today to verify the idiot's work and he said everything looks good (connection wise). All he did was change some settings in my head unit and it was sounding a lil better. however, after i finished playing some music loudly for about 5 minutes, my left component speaker started making a static sound, like an out of signal radio station. so i went to the trunk and unplugged the RCA's and it kept making the sound which let me know it isn't the components. It may be the amp....!!! so i flipped the amp from 12 to 24 back to 12 and the static stopped. do you guys think a faulty amp could be manufacturing sub-par sound in my speakers?

I have the Boston Pro60s in my Z. They sound fantastic, and I get complements from passengers all the time. I bet your installer messed up the crossover settings. If you're not sure about fixing the setup yourself, then find another installer who can. I put the Pro60s in my Z without any problems, but I planned the install carefully. By the way, my Pro60s are being driven by an Xtant amp.

ok, new problem.....i decided to go for a drive tonight (i beat a 7 series bmw) but that's a different thread...lol. anyways, i was listening to the speakers pretty loudly when the static came back. i decided to keep playin the stereo loud and after about 10 minutes, my left component started popping...like a pulsating popping noise. i turned it off after that....it looks like i have a serious problem. either the speakers are broke or the amp.

silvercat, i was pushing them tonight and they did sound pretty good, but that was before the static. and you're right...my installer is an idiot...i might just learn how to do it myself next time.

Anything like a spectrum analyzer?
Consider it the tester of all testers.

Boston makes some great speakers...I would also lean towards something else being the source your problems. I bought my mom a boston set for the house and they rock. I've listened to the car audio versions and I like them better than Diamond or Focal. The bostons have a really nice, natural and strong midbass if they're set up right.
Maybe there's a short in the wiring somewhere? Popping sounds like an install issue.
There's a small chance you got a bad set of speakers. I would pull them out of the door and try playing them and see if you get the same problems.

well me and the installer have come to the conclusion that the amp is malfunctioning. i had a 300/2 pushing the bostons. Do yall think I should get a 300/2 or a 300/4? is there a power difference between the two amps or just the channels? hopefully the malfunctioning amp explains my sub-par sound quality from the boston's overall. we shall see.
