I began installing the Eclipse AVN5435 with Navi in my 2006 350z and I am having a few issues. First, the navi comes up and finds my location just fine, but will not let me enter an address or destination or change NAVI settings. The boxes are there, but they are greyed out like there not accessiable or something. I did not hook up the parking brake wire, would this have something to do with it? If so, is their a way to bypass this? Also, I tapped into the solid white wire with grey spots that is going into that white box under the radio; however the speed sensor is not reading. Did it change on 2006? Thanks!
Im not sure about the rest of the stuff your asking but i am pretty sure that the reason you cant change settings or dest./address is because of the parking brake sensor. i have the nav that comes with the car and if your e brake isnt pulled you cant enter anything in or change the settings to it. ("Dangerous to operate while car is in motion" it says). good luck.
If the options to set a destination address are greyed out, it is because you are not making the connections correctly or (in the case of your parking brake) not at all.
In the main menu for checking settings, the parking brake reading says "OFF".. does that mean its not grounded?
I have an Eclipse AVN5435 in my '04 Z Touring Cpe that I installed myself. The check systems menu should show the parking break as "ON". I patched that wire into the AVN's ground wire and it worked fine. Sounds like you got the right speed wire. Did you also find the reverse wire?
Just ground the wire to straight metal of the chasis and you sould be fine. Don't boter with hooking up the wire to the brake. sounds like this is your problem.
Did you ever figure out the problem to this delorean696969? I am having this same issue, whether I am parked or driving or parking brake on or off the - the navi boxes are greyed out??? Please help!!

This is correct.
It's been a few years since I worked at an Eclipse dealer, but IIRC we used to just ground the parking brake wires and that would bypass it completely.
Stupid question, but you do have the NAV disc in right? I remember on a lot of Eclipse decks they had dual disc slots and you HAD to have the NAV disc in to have any kind of navigation.
