Default JL Stealth Box w/ 2 10' JLw3

I just purchased this a couple weeks ago. This question is more for curiousity sake, but does anyone have this set up and how does it sound? I havnt installed my amp yet (i wont install new head unit and amp for another week or two). I will be running a 1200 watt 4 channel amp. Im a bass head so i like alot of bass. Do you think it will hit pretty good.

If your a bass head I think you should of went with at least a w6.The w3 is more for a clean rock sound without a lot of base...at least thats what I was told.

The W3s should sound alright in such a small hatchback assuming you don't like a lot of bass. Those speakers have superior sound qualtity. My system is overkill for such a small car and I only have 2 10" Alpine Type Rs. I have broken 2 rearview mirrors solely from bass.

Ya i like alot of bass so im hoping its going to be ok for me. I know i heard two w3's in an old *** convertable camero that sounded pretty good to me, and i figure since the z's a coupe with such smaller space that it will sound even better. It just sucks that if i dont like the w3 ill have to sell my set up

If the w3 don't work for you, I for one would be interested in buying them from you because I will be putting together my sound system over the next month or so. Just let me know.....of course the price has to be right

10W6v2's require more airspace then the 10W3v2's.
Besides you wont be able to fit W6's in that box, it wont fit. The W6's are a cast basket sub, meaning it uses a larger cast basket and the holes wont line up. You cant just drill some new holes into a fiberglass box.
The stealthbox comes with 10W3v2's installed. You may be able to step up to a 10W3v3,(still a stamped metal basket sub not cast) but I doubt the small gain in quality would justify the cost.

Welcome to the world of fiberglass enclosures

I removed the JL's from my stealthbox and installed Memphis Audio subs. Kicks ***... but would kick more if I could fit some cast basket subs.

The information you guys have is incorrect. The W3 is the bass sub from JL Audio. The W6 was the woofer they put on the market to be their refrence woofer. The woofer that sounds the best. Granted they do have alot of output that is not what jl audio had in mind when putting this woofer out there. If you are looking for bass the W3 will outperform the W6 with the proper box and power.

well obviously it depends a lot on the enclosure, but if you have a setup with a W3 and a setup with a w6 both with recommended box and power specs, the 6 with outperform the 3v2 in every aspect.

wow the last two responses have gotten me confused
haha i guess ill have to hear it for myself when i have it all hooked up.
This guy at the stereo shop told me to go with the kicker L7 i believe.
I looked it up today and they can handle about 1600 watts each, which
is twice the wattage as the w3's can handle.. maaaaaaan too many
choices as of right now lol

I've contacted Mike from Z-Enclosures. He's currently brainstorming an idea to create a spare tire well box that will house two 10w7's. For the sealed application it requires 0.75 cu ft, per sub. The difficult part is the mounting depth, considering he doesn't have templates designed for a 10 inch mounting depth. We'll see what happens. I'm sure two 10w7's will deliver quite a pounding, at least too loud for anyone to sit in the car comfortably.
