Default PA11-NIS and ipod firmware

So I just bought this device but later notice that it may not work with my 30gig iPod video w/ firmware 1.1.1

This is from http://www.crutchfield.com/S-EsbYpUq...581PA11NIS#Tab

I installed this unit in my 2000 Maxima. I ran the cables through the center console and they pop out near the cup holders where the heated seat buttons are supposed to be. The unit works exactly as advertised...on other people's iPods. The unit DOES NOT SUPPORT Firmware 1.1.1 which came pre-installed on my 30GB Video iPod. I don't blame USA-Spec for this issue as many people have complained about the firmware upgrade from Apple for a number of other issues. I'm using the AUX input for now, but am waiting for another firmware upgrade.

Check your firmware version on iPod before ordering."

Has anyone else run into this issue? I did see that there a 1.1.2 firmware which might work but I wanted to check w/ you guys before I start tearing my center console open.

Nevermind

I just installed the interface and upgraded my iPod firmware to 1.1.2 and it DOES work. The unit sounds pretty nice but one thing that is lacking is the use of the iPod EQ...I always had it on ROCK but now I just have to use the nissan factory EQ...but still...I very satisfied w/ the fact that I can control my iPod seemlessly with the bose factory head unit and that it charges my iPod at the same time. Definetely recommend this product if you have a Bose Factory Head Unit.

At this point I'm just making notes for the sake of anyone who is thinking of doing the same thing I did.

Correction: If you use DIRECT MODE then you can utilize the iPod's EQ

Does it need to be a BOSE system for this guy to work?

There was someone saying that it worked on the BASE system.

I just bought this myself too. I have the non-bose system. I read a review on the Crutchfield site where it DOES work for the non-bose. Did you install it yourself? and If so could you give me any tips? My friend and I are probably going to attempt to install it ourselves, I've just been looking for a few guides or tips before we get started.
