Default Best iPOD interface for 2-DIN DVD/CD HU

Which of the DVD/CD HU has the best iPod interface? I've heard some can't search through genres, but also some taking a long time to search through songs located on your iPod. Anyone have any opinions? Models? Brands?

Go with the Alpine. I have the 9857 ( not a dvd player) and my ipod is mounted in my armrest. I could not be happier with this setup. You will never have to look at your ipod again.(except for downloading more stolen music)

I was looking at more of a 2-DIN with a 7" or 6.5" screen. Is there anyone that has experience with the iPod interface of Clarion, Eclipse, Alpine, Pioneer, Kenwood? And if one is better than the other? If the Alpine has the best iPod interface, then I'll probably go with the IVX-w200. Any other suggestions?

From what I have been reading, the W200 is awesome, and that is the deck I plan on upgrading to since it has the high speed connection to the ipod.. I have read up on other decks, and so far, I dont think anything compares to the Alpine units, especially the W200.

i like the JVC KD-AVX1...its sweet! u can play the ipod using the ipod adapter and it has steering wheel control over it too, plus u can play mp3's that u burned on a dvd disk! ..

its cool for me, im gonna get that along with the fahrenheit. by the time xmas is out, im gonna buy me a new video ipod that i've been waiting for. its this 3.5" lcd screen and it's a touchscreen. and u have to touch on the screen for the circle button to come up. its virtual button. its gonna be sweet!

Alpine has the most advanced iPod interface of any manufaturer. Plus the quality of Alpine is second to none. Just get the Alpine double Din and you are set.

for some people. You dont know what the OP has to spend. That is your opinion. If you want second rate things feel free to buy them. I would save up until I had money for the best.

I really am looking for the 2-DIN option, as I am not a big fan of the single-DIN HU's. I don't really need the ability to play mp3's from dvd if I have my iPod. Does the alpine units not play mp3's on dvd?

Unless someone says they've had a bad experience with the Alpine w200, I think I might pick that one up. Anyone have a used one for sale? Where might the best place to get one from be?

I dont know of any shops in MN. I would shop around your local area and find the lowest price or check a few of the online shops. Just make sure they are authorized Alpine distributers.

Check out the classified section, someone might have one up for sale. You can also try posting in the wanted section also.

Whats everyones opinion on whether or not navi is worth it? I know the alpine w200 doesn't have it, but some of the Eclipse upper units do. Really, I can't see myself using it more than once in a new city. Is there people who didnt get it that wished they had? Or some that got it and don't use it? I just cant justify spending $1300 or more for the nav.

I had the Alpine BlackBird navigation. Only used it once so I sold it.

If I had the money to spend on it though I would have got the Apine NVE-N872A Navigation system that would have ran through my head unit and monitor, but $1,700 is a lot of modding money LOL

The two system's I was looking further at was the Eclipse avn-6600, or the alpine w200. Quite the price difference though, not sure I can justify 1900 compared to 800. Anyone have experience with both or either of these? I've also heard that buying either one of these off ebay voids the warrenty??

Checkout the Pioneer double din's, I have a Avic Z-1 and couldnt be happier. I might just get an Ipod just to have another source selection, but the built in 30 gb hard drive has plenty of storage(Although 20gb is reserved for Nav, the remaining ten can hold ripped cd's) so its kinda hard to justify. The D2 and N3 units have really come down in price. Unless you live in a major area the Navtraffic service really isnt worth it yet so a SAT tuner for XM or Sirius is only around $99.00 on top of a Double Din unit at $800.00-$900.00.

Other Non Nav units are available but I dont know why people would pass up such a useful feature when you have all that touch screen realestate installed in your dash.

I bought my Alpine from crutchfield. It was cheaper than local shop and they included the harness and everything else needed to install myself. Local shops wanted to charge for everything. However, i did take it to the local shop and had them do the install, it cost me $40.

Alpine you can just plug in the XM or Sirius antenna into the HU and activate it and you are good. Nothing to buy to add on. They are also ultra expandable with the AiNet
