Friends,
I am in the market to upgrade my speakers. I have a kenwood dual din receiver and gps system.
I just want to get a good set of speakers component and *** for front and back.
Also,
looking for a good shop in the san gabriel valley (l.a. area) to install my stereo system.
please advice,
George From Pasadena

Still get something decent for the rear, but look for something nice for the front.

Hey Mr. Simplicity in Sound, how's everything been going. Saw your thread at supraforums when the logo was being made up still and didn't know you guys actually took it to the next level. Good luck in the field and I know where to get audio stuff from in the future.

For around $400 I would suggest putting the money into good comps and forgetting the rear. Especially in our little car.
For $450 you can get Seas Lotus Performace(which I have), awesome sounding speakers, one of the strongest midbass. You can get Rainbow Germaniums for the same price. Also great speakers, check out caraudio.com forums for some dealers that sell those. for the Seas you can buy them from mobilesq.com or they'll list dealers in your area.
Also, for $300 you can get the OZ Matrix component set(have in wife's car) those are great speakers too but they're pretty deep. You'd need pods most likely.

i have had good luck with polk momo components. I have had the mmc 6500 and really liked their performance.
One thing to keep in mind if buying components is the material the tweeter is made of (eg silk or metal).
the 12volt.com, crutchfield.com and some of the manufacturers eg. polk, rockford fosgate etc. have decent buying guides.

Alpine SPX-177R you can find them cheap on the net... the used to list very high like 990.00 for a pair... I've seen them for 190-220 on ebay for a pair. This set up is one down from there F1 series... I think these have F1 style tweeters... This is a high end speaker for a moderate price.
