Question Audio Question

Lately, my right front speaker has been fading in and out. It never goes all the way out, but it gets a lot softer than the driver's side. It usually only does it if I have a CD playing, never on the radio. And it's not certain songs either, it may do it on one song, and if I replay that song it'll be fine. And That's only part of the problem...last time I tried taking the door panel off to get some FATMAT in there, one of the screws was stripped and just spinning so I could never get the panel off, so I can't really get behind the speaker to check the connection. Any ideas what might cause it to get a lot softer than the other one...and how I can get my door panel off? Thanks in advance.

Normally a loose connection gets the speaker to cut in and out rather than fading the volume. Problems with the head-end or amplifer are more likely to cause problems with fading.

I noticed today that the problem only occurs when CDs play. If the radio is on, all 4 speakers work fine. If I switch to a CD, the speakers may work fine for a little while, but then the speaker in the passenger door gets real soft, and when I switch the Fader all the way to the right side the speaker sounds real bad...but it doesn't do that on the radio. Any ideas?

You've pretty much confirmed it's internal to the CD unit and requires bench work.
