^ don't turn off x-band just yet. There is still many PDs still using it. They are far and few between. Myself and many of my friends have been hit with x-band mostly by sherrifs.

There is a website (I lost the bookmark)where people list state by state what bands are currently being used.

Not a single X here either. With my brother's cheapy 35 dollar Ebay Cobra alarm, you couldn't turn off any of the bands. None of the other alerts would show up because of the X. I hear cops will hide behind an X to mask the K and Ka.

I did have some problems with my mine about the second summer of having it, it would freeze up alot, more and more frequent as time went on, So I went to Best Buy, bought a new one, and then returned it with my old one in the box. Cant beat the Hustle!!
so what ive deduced from all of this is that there really is no definitive thing that could be setting off the laser.. could be the battery, my navi system, windshield wipers, hell, even the angle of the sun!! ill mess with the thing for another week or two, but if it keeps up, i think the HUSTLE is definitely my best option.. f'ing genius!!

also, with regards to bands.. maybe its just me.. but the ONLY time i see a cop EVER is using Ka band.. even K band i get a decent amount of false alarms (CVS's are a big one).. i can count on my single hand the number of times ive seen laser go off and had it be a cop, and X i already turned off.. but ya, maybe its just a CT/Mass/upstate NY thing...

Well as some of you noted, the screens on the navigations and such make lazer go off. Well that is perfectly understandable. The screen is LCD. It is very similar to LEDs. Like the ones that are on trailblazers 3rd brakelights and such.
I have both a V1 and 8500 and the 8500 did start to give false lazers off. I had a friend that had the same thing happen on his. It is an ongoing problem with escort.

I still get K only in the lower/middle class neighborhoods from police cruisers. I mostly get Ka/laser from upper/middle class. I do however get K from the trailers left on the middle of the road to tell you how fast you are going in any neighborhood. This signal is easily distinguishable because the K is extremely strong.

In orange county, there are lots of traffic lights with camera. My passport always go off with K when I am near one. I think those camera uses laser. anyone know???
My passport x50 also go nut when i drive one of those "Your speed is xxx" digital sign (K).
Lots of times, it doesn't even go off when driving next to the cops. I guess they usually have their radar gun off.

I have an X50 in my Z and i haven't had any problems with it. BUT my dad has the same radar as me but his is a little older then mine and everytime i press hard on the horn in his 06 Jeep Cherokee the "Laser" goes crazy on the radar. I wounder why its doing that.

I thought it was a defective Passport but it seems a lot of you guys have the same issue.

I would rather have false alarms instead of not getting a signal at all. I would think of false alarms with the radar detector must be a good thing and that it is really sensitive to all kinds of signals out there. Just think of it as getting a signal or getting nothing at all, which would you rather have. I say be safe than sorry, food for thought!
