Question Valentine1 direct-wire install

Has anyone attempted to install their Valentine1 radar/laser dectector using the direct-wire adapter that comes with it? The instructions say to crimp it to one of the of 12 volt "switched" wires, but I'm leary of doing this.

Has anyone done this with theirs? Which wire did you use? Or did you plug it into the fuse box instead?

I did a direct wire to the red wire with a brown stripe on it. It is a power wire so when the car is turned on the detector goes on. Turn it off and it goes off. Hope this helps
