Just installed new system... running into a problem
Just like the title says...
I just installed my new system, and I only did it partially only because I didn't have the right funds yet to finish it. I installed a JVC KD-AVX1 head unit along with the metra wire harnesses (80-7550), and a Kicker L5 10" sub, and a Kicker 350x1 amp. I decided to leave the stock BOSE amp and speakers remporarily until about next week when I can afford it. I must admit, for the past couple days while running this system, I have never ever been happier with a system. It seriously BUMPS, I was a little concerned b/c everyone on this website, and Circuit City were telling me that I had to rewire the car to install a new head unit and amp/sub. I had people coming in my car claiming that it's the clearest sounding system ever, and taht everything is perfect. The issue that I have now is that, my stock driver's side tweeter is blown.
When I first installed the headunit, during the first 10 min the tweeter went out, but I was able to adjust with some frequency settings and the sound went away for the weekend, but on my way to work today, I could hear it again. I plan on upgrading the system by next week, but I have a few questions...
1. Is there a way to just disconnect that one tweeter so that I don't have to listen to that awful sound?
2. What do you guys reccomend for speakers and amp to replace BOSE? (keep in mind, I enjoy the quality of the sound quality right now, just want a little bit more without blowing the speakers)
3. Any kind of settings I can mess with to fix the tweeter?
Thanks

If it is anything like the Non-Bose, there is a quick disconnect located behind the door panel.
Speaker wiring will not be an issue running the mids and tweets from head unit power. Where you will have a problem is when you add the amp and new components. The new power being pushed will demand a thicker wire.

Any suggestions on any similar to stock, maybe a little bit better speaker + amp set up? Not really too familiar with this stuff.
If I add components, I definitly need it to be rewired again?
What if I just get Infiniti Kappa's and a Infiniti 4-channel amp, would that be better, or similar to stock?

There are plenty of sites to explain the electrical laws but basically, the super- thin stock speaker wires will not handle the current and will be a higher resistance than a proper wire of say 14-16 gauge. Lower resistance equals more power to your speakers.
The Kappas you mention are designed to be run with amp to get a nice clean sound. You could definitely run them without and simply replace the stock speakers, but you would not be getting your money's worth out of them.
Run 4g positive wire from the battery (fused) to a spot in the rear cubby where you can mount your New Amp and ground it. Get a 4 channel and you can bridge the rear chns to run a sub, or just a 2 chn to power the fronts. From the amp run 16g to the doors. In the doors mount your crossovers and run 16g from them to your components.
Unfortunatly, that is about as simple as it gets. Anything less you will be compromising.
