Default two questions

I have upgraded my stock radio to an AVIC-Z1. Now I want to upgrade my front speakers.
I have these.

http://www.mmxpress.com/directed.html

2 questions.
Do I have to add an amp or is the power output from the Z1 sufficient to drive these?
Are the existing speaker wires adaquete or should I replace them with a larger gauge?

Thank you,

Ray

The AVIC-Z1 puts out 22 watts RMS of power which ought to be plenty enough for all but the most demanding or loudest listening you want to do. Most four channel amps are 50 watts of power but that extra 28 watts will only give you the smallest detectable increase in volume. Many systems have volume controls that click between settings - that's normally a 3 dB click which is going to be just about the difference between 22 watts and 50 watts worth of power.

A few of the four channel amplifiers will run 80-100 watts and that's only a bit better (louder). Your best way to gain volume is with efficent speakers.

The stock wires are fine but can be replaced with some effort.

I ran two sets of JBL GTi 6.5" components off of my AVIC-D1 internal amps for about two months ... not really a bad setup ... if you aren't looking to win any dB showoffs, you are more than fine.

Ray,

Do note that an amplifier will also make the quality of the music sound better, and not just help with the volume. Your question was just regarding volume though so hopefully these guys already answered your question. If you're going to go with the no-amplifier setup, the stock wires will be fine.
