Default Oppinion needed on Bose-area sub enclosure pricing

I was hoping to get a rough estimate on what you all either have paid or think I should pay to have a 10" sub box made and installed in the area where the Bose sub would be.

I have gotten a few estimates already but they seem rather high. Is there anything special about the area that would make shops charge a premium to install a sub in this area? Thank you.

I have the sub, and was going to have them build the box and install the sub. One place quoted me $1,000 and another about $900.

HOLY SCHMOLEY !

That is outrageous for a subwoofer box, especially if its nothing special, like fiberglass. I think you should be able to get an upwards firing mdf constructed box with sub for around $500. If you want something that really sounds good, check out this thread for a custom fiberglass box, that is a perfect match for your interior, with almost no loss of space in your hatch. These are selling for around $500, or less depending on how many orders they get.

Here is my enclosure, which took about 20+ hours of work, and is constructed from custom molded fiberglass and is an exact fit to the left portion of the hatch. Oh yeah, it sounds great too...this one is not for sale...

I am replacing Bose sub with a JL 10w6 and have been quoted $300-400 for fiberglass removeable box for factory space. Shop around because I also got $600 quote for same thing at Magnolia and Car toys. Went to local shops instead and got much better quotes.
