I just got my 30GB the other day for $200 with 1 year warranty. The thing comes looking brand new with everything you need.

Don't know if you are a student or family of a student, but I got mine for $229 from apple.com as a univeristy student. Apple is controlling the sales price of these so most vendors are going to sell within a few $ of one another. I was able to get free engraving and 2 day shipping, which would normally cost extra.

Look on ebay. There are more than a few where people have gotten tired of the control pad (overly touchy).. I just dumped a 4 gig for 190. hated it since the day i got it. Bought a Zen and love it!!

Interesting.. I like the touch pad, thats the only reason i'm getting it. I checked on ebay but they're all refurbished w/o a warranty. I might check out the Zen.

You don't have to show your student ID online to buy at apple to get the student discount. I don't know how they verify you are a student except maybe to send your invoice data back to the institution after the fact. I kind of thought to myself, hey I could do this next time even if I'm not in school and fudge the system since they don't really ask for any verification. It's kind of like when you buy MS Office for students at Wal Mart, nobody asks you if you're really a student, and you could say it's for your kids in school blah blah blah.

um...they make you login to your school store to buy. When i search the apple store, i have to login to the clemson section in order to get a discount.

I attend National Defense Univeristy in DC and I didn't have to do that.

i had a creative zen before...before the micra version came out. It broke twice, covered under warranty and broke a third time out of warranty. Im not too sure why.. It was a cool toy tho for sure. I also had iRiver, which sucked BUTT. It was horrible.. Broke 4 times in warranty and was recalled.. I have still yet to recieve any kind of refund.
