AUDIOHEADS:What's the best sounding bass????
I'm looking for that purest, clearest, smoothest, and deepest bass. I want that bass where you can from hear it two blocks away. Where you can feel it in your stomach, even at low volume. I DON'T want that trunk rattling bass where it sounds like every screw in the car sounds like it's coming loose.
I know there are a ton of variables that contribute to bass quality: sub size, brand, number of subs, box size, ported, band pass, amp, wiring, etc.
Right now, I have a custom job in my trunk. The spare tire was taken out, and I have two 10 inch JL W0's powered by a Rockford Fosgate amp, and an Alpine amp powering my Boston Accoustic Components.
It sounds great, and the bass is powerful, but I want that smooth ghetto bass.
How do I get it? Do I up it to 2 12"s? 15"s? Do I get top of the line 10" subs? Is it the amp?? Do I just drop a ton of cash on equipment? Give me advice audio heads!!!

10" will give you that punchy "rock" bass
12" will give you that low deep hum
15" is sometimes inaudible and offers more pressure and vibration than sound...
I say go with 2 12" and sound deaden the crap out the rear....

Im a bass head so to speak when it comes to having a bumping system. I currently installed (last nite lol) 2 jlw3 in a stealthbox, and im running a 1200 watt amp to them. At first i was a little optimistic cuz after reading peoples post about there w6's and w7's i wasnt sure the w3 would be enough bass for my liking. Well, after my install was finished i was more then happy with the sound (bass), and this is coming from a guy who had 4 12's in a s10, and 2 15's in a tahoe. Thats the extreme i like. The good thing about the z is the tight space that the hatch provides which causes the bass to propell back towards the cab. To close i would just recommened upgrading to the w3 and running a 1200 watt amp. Trust me, i was at a stoplight last nite in the last lane next to the side walk; there was a starbucks on the opposite side of the street and i had every head looking my direction

I also used to have 2 15s...but in a 4runner, with one pcx-2200 on each (800x1 rmseach). My stealthbox actually just came in, and it should be in my car by 6pm tonight. I'm gonna run 1 of my 800 watt amps on it...arent you worried about the 1200 watt amp blowing the w3s...they handle 300rms each. or do u just have the gain really low?

**** i hope its not too much cuz thats what i told the audio guy.
He said it would be fine. But on another note, i have the bass on
my head unit at -2 and my bass control at half way.
velodyne in terms of overall smoothness of bass, cannot be beat really....
the last time i heard a velodyne install in a car, i was blown away... but if you want any volume, then probably dont want to use velodyne unless you can throw a good 3 or 4 in the car lol...
it better be at well over 1k (or was it 2k) a sub lol
as for front speakres, focal is a good brand for usre, but my personal taste has me favoring a few other brands of speakers over focal

All kidding aside. You will not find much better "powerful" base this side of a pair of Adire Tumult 12D2s in 2.5ft^3(each) tuned to around 22Hz .... that will literally be heard anywhere withing two city blocks. It will also be some of the cleanest bass you'll ever hear too.
Any specific brands anybody spouts off here (including me) is purely subjective and limited by the first hand experience any one person has had with the equipment they are recommending. For the most part, any good quality sub(s) with plenty of clean power in a well built and tuned box will give you the kind of bass you want. Just demo as many different combos as you can before making a decision.
Rattling is proportional to the total SPL of your system and how little you dynamat/foam/tighten the rattles that you find.
You will find that (typically) the more money you spend, the better of a system you will get.
