Exclamation Some good questions about my Kenwood DDX-6019

Quick questions i have and couldn't find the answers to about my Kenwood DDX-6019.

1) Does kenwood make any aftermarket hard drives to add onto it? All of my music are in MP3's

2) Can i burn a DVD with MP3's on it and will it play? A DVD could hold a lot more songs then a CD-R. (I don't have blank DVD's to try it)

3) If i purchase the Ipod adapter, is the ipod controlled by the DDX-6019? Or do i have to still fiddle around with the small ipod?

Thanks in advance!

#1 seems irrelevant if you have an ipod....which I think (for #3), the iPod would be controlled through the deck...simple folder navigation to songs and whatnot

as for #2, I'm not completely certain, and I've posed the question befor too.

personally, I have a JVC deck that has what they call 'Giga MP3', which basically means the deck can read MP3s burned onto a DVD. purty cool. but that's kind of irrelevant too, since I have the iPod connector that allows me to control it through the deck (again, simple folder navigation...nothing too fancy)

Kenwood used to sell the Music Keg which is a cartridge harddisc-based MP3 player. It works great with my DDX-6019. I especially like the voice prompts annoucing your playlist so you can keep your eyes on the road. You can still find them on ebay. There are ways you can hack it to allow you to change the hard drive and increase the capacity. I am pretty sure you can burn a DVD with mp3s but I've never tried it since I have the Music Keg.

I am also considering this combination. Would it be too much to ask for you to post some photos of the display while displaying music keg song title information?
Thanks

thanks... awesome!

I am wondering if the music Keg is worth it since the iPod will basically do the same thing?

I would love to see pics if you have them... Thanks!

Ipod is definitely more portable...but if you only listen to music in the car, imo the keg is a better solution as it does not require you to connect/disconnect the unit and worry about potential thieves!!!

Here are some pix of the screens for the music keg. I think they are similar to the cd changer screens. First one shows the playlists screen where you can scroll the list and pick the playlist (or albums). Unfortunately it only shows the first 12 characters or so of the name of the list. Second pic shows the keg screen where you can advance or go back on the playlist but using the p-list + and p-list - buttons. The bottom displays either the playlist name or the artist-song name. It can auto scroll as shown in the 3rd pic You can manually choose to show either the playlist name or the artist-song title, but not both at the same time.

I used to have a DDX7015 in my last car. That deck was able to play mp3s on DVDR. So there's a high chance that your 6019 will play mp3s on DVD, too.

DVD mp3 disc is nice and all, but man cd mp3 is just more practical. why? you burn your mp3 dvd and then find yourself scrolling through a list until you get to the album you want to listen to, or the mp3 you want to listen to! it takes awhile to get there, and man while driving it gets annoying! not to mention you have to wait for the names to load before you can scroll through the list too! if it didn't take so long it wouldnt be so bad. What i do is burn cd mp3's now of what music i listen to most currently, and i only need to scroll through 3 lists of albums instead of 10.

since you have an ipod I would just do a linein with the video, and go through the songs using the ipod. It's so much faster. I do this with my psp, but 2gb of music isn't enough. Thinking about getting an ipod later on getting the video wire for it so you could basically load videos on the ipod for road trips ^^
