I happen to like J***. I chose the 27V1 which has the lowest X-Max for the best quality bass. It will be installed in a small ported box so it will hit hard and loud with very little power needed. These subs do not like a sealed enclosure.
I meant this for Focal subs, not every other sub out there. I personally did not like the sound of the larger excursion focal subs as well as the Polyglass 27v1 which happened to have an x-max of only 7mm. When porting this sub you don't need a huge amount of excursion because at tuning frequency the cone moves the least amount. The downside of this is if played below the tuning frequency the sub will sound really nasty so I use my subsonic filter to keep it from dropping below 30Hz.
