Any j***ers out there?
Hey guys (and girls), are any of you really into j@zz? I would like to upgrade my sound system to make my music sound decent, because the stock 6-speaker Bose system isn't cutting it. I can't hear any of the bass lines or solos, and the overall mix is just terrible. I like other kinds of music too, but I prefer to listen to big band music and some combo stuff when I'm driving, so that's all I care to cater to. I don't want a crazy system that makes everyone's heads turn, so 1.21 Gigawatts of amp power is not really what I need. Can anyone recommend a simple head unit / speaker setup that would simply let me hear my music the way it's supposed to be heard? Feel free to PM me

I think you'd want to go more with high's and mid's than the bass..since in most j*** combo/bigband there isn't some dude whaling on his double kick drums...
get a decent HU that you can adjust the EQ manually. Get a quality set of MB Quart mids/high's.
get an 8 inch woofer and power everything with a decent 5 channel amp and you will be good to go!

Thank you all for your help so far. I have been looking at subs lately. I know I need a free air sub if I want to keep a sub in the stock location, but I doubt they will have the punch I want. Like I said before, I don't need a lot of bass, but a sub that has a nice dry bass punch would be great. I don't want anything blatty, just something so that I can hear the double bass player's notes being picked. Do the MB Quart, Diamond or Focal subs sound like what I'm describing? If someone knows a brand that makes something like this, I would appreciate it.

I happen to like J***. There is some phenomenal J*** music out there and played on a high-end SQ sound system is an amazing experience. My friend you will have to check out the thread I will be posting on a SQ sound system that will do justice to J*** and most anything else played through it. The system will be a budget high end system that will run under $5000.00 installed.
Focal is definitly a step in the right direction for pure SQ. I will running a single polyglass 11" sub and polykevlar splits in the fronts with custom door pods. The focal sub may not be the loudest sub out there, but it will be very fast and tight. I chose the 27V1 which has the lowest X-Max for the best quality bass. It will be installed in a small ported box so it will hit hard and loud with very little power needed. These subs do not like a sealed enclosure.
I don't believe in running huge power and subs with insane excursion. The Rap and Hip Hop guys can have them.

I'm sorry, but reading posts like this make me reply. No, I'm not following you around, just bored reading the forums on a long Friday.
