Pretty pictures but no size measurements at that link so I'll guess no way.
The 7" Farenheit screens that fit PERFECTLY are just seven inches - this display is eight. Secondly the 7" screens are 16:9 ratio - this screen is 4:3. Third the 7" displays fill the hole in the cubby completly with video - this screen has several buttons on the side which extend the requirement for a hole ever further.

The cubby is designed for a 7" screen, if you go 8" you will need to fabricate something for the cubby section for it to fit. If you are going to have the work done, expect any savings from this deal to wind up in fabrication.
Also, what type of power supply is it using, scanned the page and did not see anything specific. You are best off going with a car specific DC/DC power supply unit. They are smart enough to handle car starts and proper shutdowns. They cost around $100 so if it is not included in this deal, that is something to think about as well.
One thing to keep in mind with CarPC projects is, you have to be willing to do some kind of work for it in most cases. They are not really mainstream and not for everybody. I think your friend paid to much. Here is an example of a CarPC for $891 not including personal labor. http://www.hypersprite.com/auto/tech-z-007/default.asp

If you haven't visited MP3Car.com, now is the time.
Free sign up and tons of information on cars, pc's and software, hardware.
As for the 8 inch, no way with out fabrication. I have seen one 8 inch out there where the person installed the lcd frame into the hole for the nav door, then filled in around it and painted the entire center console.
Wasnt bad but not to my liking.
7 inch farenheit and xenarc fit inside with the nav door intact with some minor mods. 7 inch is about as large as you can go without some form of mods to the console.
also I see that the jpg of the lcd shows a stylus being used, and the write up say active matrix. you need to make sure you can use your finger to navigate the lcd, you dont want to have to pick up the stylus each time you want to make a selection.
Good luck
