Aftermarket Nav Unit ...
Hi everyone, I did a "search" and couldn't find what I was looking for so I figured I would ask you all.
My question is, is there any aftermarket Nav units that fit perfectly in the "cubby hole"? That would make it look like the stock unit.
I would be purchasing from Tweeters and from what I've heard its not feasible to buy a stock unit used and have that put in since the wiring harness would need to be changed out as well?
By the way it is a 2003 Touring obviously without the stock Nav.
Any help you guys can be would be greatly appreciated.

Ehh... I've seen some guys toss in a 6 or a 7 inch screen... but as ar as decks, you gotta tear out the Bose junk and use a double-din metra kit.
Peep this out.... this is the one I am getting.

I was just going to use my cubby as a spot to hide a grenade to toss at haters.

Will that fit in seamlessly? I am looking for a similar to stock look.

I've also got the AVIC-Z1 and after a few months of using it I can't in good conscience suggest it as a viable option. Pioneer's hostile attitude towards its users just doesn't make any sense. In some places they purposefully cripple their unit (e.g. can't copy MP3's to drive, can't play MP3's off of a DVD-R, can't use 90% of the system when you are moving) and in other places their interface design is so bad it was outlawed in 32 countries for crimes against common-sense. (e.g. HORRIBLE iPod interface, sloppy Sirius interface kludgey and not having the same functionality as XM)
As much as I detested my CDA-9857 (almost useless Sirius interface) I've started looking at the Alpine units, like the IVA-W200, they alllow you to hook up ANY USB sound player or you can just copy your MP3's to the unit's drive.
Let us know what you get and how you like it.

The Alpine you point out doesn't have navigation. The add on nav unit is $1699.00 MSRP and that is the one thing he is wanting. Also, the AVIC-Z1 doesn't need navigation disk to load and unload depending on where you are. It stores it all on the HDD. It is all a matter of opinion. I like my bluetooth inteface to my phone, I like the HDD for the navigation, the nav works great, I like my XM radio, and my TV tuner. I don't have an Ipod so I cannot compare. I would have liked to have a USB port like the Kenwood ones. Imagine loading a HDD with all your Mp3s on it and having it run.
As for the crippling of the system functions while driving, that can all be bypassed and you know that. Every company out there does the safety thing to limit the liability.
As with all systems, there are good and bad points. Just look at all the options and make a decision that serves you best. Try to go to a store and try out the units with the options you want as well.

I brought a NAV 360. It dosen't use up all the cub hole space. I've got it mounted with velcro. It's portable and the best NAV on the market. Well, I didn't answer the question, but this unit is nice.

There are no units out there that are gonna fit/look like stock. Sorry, if you want factory like navigation, you shoulda gotten the nav option...not trying to be jerk, just saying. I am using a Garmin unit that fits great in the stock spot but it in no way looks like the stock setup.

Here's a few pics of my Alpine screen in the factory cubby hole, but no nav hooked up. All I need is the NVEN872A nav unit and I'm good to go. It was very custom to say the least...

That looks great, i'm thinking of putting a screen in to connect to a mini-mac and then have a second bottom unit in the double dim with stero, satilite radio, and nav. Did you have any issues with power?

Thanks, i'm doing my layout now and i keep going back and forth on if the second screen would be worth it. I figure dvd, nav, and stero on the bottom and CPU on the top with the sound output gonig through the first unit. I'm only worried about the power that would be needed.
