Stock Head Unit vs. Bose head unit
I have an enthusiast, so the head unit is non-bose. I swapped out all the speakers and added a 10" sub. The sound is much better, but I am still not happy.
Does anyone know if the bose head unit is any better than the one I have. I want to keep it as stock as possible. It if is, I would just buy one from someone here who took it out. A few other posts said the Bose head unit was fairly good when the rest of the system was changed.
Thanks for the input.

Don't know if this is true or not. I was told by the sales person where I shopped for my Z that the head unit is the same in both the stock and the Bose system and that the only thing that made it a Bose system was the speakers and the addition of the sub. That's why I passed and decided I'd do better in the after market.
Please don't flame I'm only repeating what the sales rep told me.

The Bose HU is different. The Bose is a 6 disc in dash cd changer, and the stock is a changer controller. I would say that the sound quality is no better on the Bose than the stock HU. In fact, they are probably both made by Bose/Clarion. The Bose system uses 2 amps--a main amp, and a sub amp to power the speakers. The Bose also has the addition of the evil demon--Audio Pilot. The audio pilot system adjusts itself to compensate for road noise, and is more of a nuisance than a help. The Bose amps are weak, and provide little sound improvement. The Bose 10" sub and amp a re a TOTAL JOKE (see pic, not me). I ripped out all signs of the Bose and replaced everything to improve my sound. I am very happy now.
