Default Stereo, Radar Detector, Alarm System

Hello All,

I recently picked up my 350Z enthusiast... I have a few things which i will be adding immediately to it and wanted feedback from other Z owners:

1) Stereo - I was planning on replacing all 4 speakers & the 2 tweeters and putting in a subwoofer.. here are my questions:
a) Since the majority of the MP3 player decks out there tend to be the smaller size, will it look funny when they put an adapter kit in there? The MP3 faceplate will be 1/2 the size of the original stereo(which in my opinion is pretty weak and crappy). I believe they just put in an adapter which creates an empty slot. Will it look out of place?
b) The touring model has the BOSE sub in the back of the driver's seat... The enthusiast does not have the slotted holes for a sub... what are my options? Can i buy a plastic back cover with holes from NISSAN for my enthusiast model so that i can put a sub there? Or will I have to get a custom made panel?
c) Will most amplifiers fit under the driver or passenger seats?

2) Radar detector... what's the best one today? Is it still the escort passport 8500 X50?

3) Should i get a 2 way alarm system with a pager? What do most people do if they get an aftermarket alarm system? Do you disable the stock alarm system? and if so, will that mess up the imobilizer system?

Sorry for so many questions... just want to do it right... I am sure there folks here would have tons of info. so that i don't have to stubble in the dark.

thank you.
Ben

I've read alot about Viper, and they seem to be a top contender. Haven't had any experience with them, however I have had bad experiences with escort. Seems outdated.

1a. A single din head unit is what I have and it does not look stupid. Pm me if you would like pictures, or just look around the site, there are quite a few people with them too.

1b. The Bose sub sucks, and the location behind the seat is even worse. I suggest that you get a Zenclosure sub box instead. This is what I plan on doing and I have the touring model. I'm going to turn the stock sub location into another storage area. You can also find pics of this set up all over this site.

2. Valentine 1 seems to be in the majority. I have one and it works like a champ.

My aftermarket alarm I'm not sure if you get the brand I've installed in USA, anyway left the standard Nissan alarm in place, but added another 4 immobilisers. 5 immobilisers in total, lots of flashing lights. GPS system is a great added bonus for knowing where you car is at all times, even if someone has knocked it.

Both Valentine V1 & Bell radars systems are both very good.
