Use the 4 channel amp on the highs and mids and the 2 channel amp on the subs. FOCALS kick a$$ and you will be extremely happy with the money you spent on them; they are worth every penny. By the way here are mine.

you will be fine with a 300/2 or a 300/4, but since you are only using the amp with a set of components in the front i would recommend just the 300/2. it'll save you a little money, and give you all the settings you'd be using with the 300/4 anyway, and running the same amount of power to each speaker.
Ok cool. I cant wait to get all this installed. Im goin to run the AVIC-Z1 head unit. Focal componets with a JL 300/2 1 12" FI Q Sealed with a JL 1000/1 amp. Goin to use the rockford fopsgate 3sixty.2 for eq'n

I had a 300/4 setup with a low-pass on the mids and high-pass on the tweets, sounded AMAZING bi-amped. Honestly though, for the sake of ease / simplicity / etc I would just run a 300/2 and call it a day. <3 the Poly Glass stuff (and Poly Kevlar).

To OP: Focals are the way to go for quality. You will be hard pressed to find a better sounding speaker for the money. This of course is all opinion of the individual listener. I am a huge Boston Acoustics fan, but I think I'm going Focal in the Z. I might do 2 Boston Acoustics G510 subs though. They are incredible subs. I had 2 in my Xterra with 300 watts rms to each in approx 0.8 cu ft (each), they were unbeatable. Deep, clean and tight.

In a bi-amp setup, you are using 4 amp channels. 1 channel dedicated to 1 driver.
Most higher end component systems now offer "bi-ampable" crossovers. Many audiophiles don't see this as being a true bi-amp because it defeats the purpose of true biamping......flexability. If you use the bi-ampable factory crossover, the only advantage you have is that you can customize the power input to each individual driver.
An audiophile will tell you to be truly biamped, you should have an active crossover network filtering the signal, then feeding the amp, which then feeds the individual drivers (eliminating the crossovers that came with the components). This allows you to taylor the frequency cutoffs AND the power distribution to the individual drivers.
My opinion is that unless you are entering sound Q competitions, the "true" bi-amp with an active crossover is not worth the effort/cost. Leave the crossover points and tuning to the guys/girls who designed the component set. Bi-amping using the passive crossovers that came with the set is not a bad idea though, because you can adjust the power to the tweeters individualy if they are too bright or dull for your tastes.

My tweets are in the sail panel. +1 on the FOCALS!
