Thumbs down A chance to tell the world how you feel about Bose in your 350Z Touring

Here is a chance to voice your displeasure with the BOSE stereo in our Touring 350Z's and let the world know how BOSE and Nissan are handling the situation; Automobile Magazine is soliciting feedback from 350Z owners. The following is a blurb from the bottom right on page 118 of the April 2003 issue:

JOIN OUR TEST TEAM
If you own a 2002 Acura RSX, Audi A4, Chevrolet Avalanche, Hyundai Santa Fe, or Jaguar X-type, or a 2003 Toyota Matrix or Nissan 350Z, we'd like to hear from you. Tell us your name, address, and telephone number; your occupation; your age; your car's make and model; how long you've owned it; how much you paid for it; whether you've had any mechanical problems; and your previous vehicle. Remember to describe specifically what you like and dislike about your car.
Send your response to:
Four Seasons Test, Automobile Magazine
120 East Liberty Street
Ann Arbor, Michigan 48104

Or, even better, you can tell us all about your vehicle and see what other readers think in the Reader Forum section of http://automobilemag.com
My snail mail letter is on its way. You know what they say: "Squeeky wheel get's-a-greasin'"

yeah.... so your gonna make sure that the 350Z gets the worst possibly write up in automobile magazine cause they will fix it for you?

no, you complain to nissan, all your doing is hurting the Z popularity and our resale value with it. writing nissan, or bose would be it, not some independant magazine that has nothing to do with repairs...

but man good job! oh and I think the bose is great, no complaints. I should write to the magazine.

Actually, what I am going to do is give the car a glowing review that reflects how I feel about it's handling, power, looks and price. I am going to slam BOSE without mercy though.

I did write Nissan and Bose, just as many here did. The issue has not been addressed to my satisfaction and as a consumer the free press is my last recourse. I could not care less what this does to MY resale value, since I had to plunk down four grand for a replacement stereo and that depriciates practically overnight. I do not buy cars as an investment and do not recommend that you do either. As far as popularity goes, someone who would not get this car because he/she read that the stereo sucks should not get this car to begin with. I would actually be quite happy if there were LESS Z's on the road not MORE.

The last time I checked the poll 13% are OK with the BOSE system and 87% hate it. You should write to the magazine and tell them you love it. But, you should also go and get your hearing checked.

I guess I was just a bit more reasonable in what I expected from a stock system. those that arent obviously were expecting aftermarket like sound. I coulda told you you werent gonna get that long ago.

See posts comparing BOSE in the 350Z with the BOSE in the '03 Maxima. I had to listen to it myself to believe that a CHEAPER car had a better sounding system from the same vehicle and stereo manufacturer.

I personally think my 98 GTPs non-upgraded CD 8 speaker system is significantly better than the Blose. That system isn't the greatest, but I would have been happy with similar Bose performance for the cost.

I think we were ripped off myself. I didn't expect audiophile quality, I did hope for decent. I don't think I have that. It is muddy and the sound stage is crap.

Thanks for the link. I may submit something. Maybe it will help people in the model years after 2003.
