I went onto Pioneers site, and they released news on their Avic-d3. Seems real cool. Now it plays dvds, has a ipod wheel like the ipod on its touch screen and bluetooth. check out www.pioneerelectronics.com. No news on an update of the Z1.

Anyone have news on Eclipse's units?

 

Sounds cool. I had been looking at the Z1 but this sounds like it might have better Ipod controls which has been a conplain I've read of the Z1.

Any news on release dates and pricing? Is it a hard drive based navi or is it still dvd?

 

And is the ipod functionality now full speed (like the alipine w200), or still slow as always?

 

i would prolly guess it still dvd based, or else it would compete with the z1

Release is set for March, and it is DVD. Plays DVD and Divx. No more on how fast the ipod is. Pioneer Rules!

So much for wanting a D2, I'll just save for a D3 now.

 

Seems the ipod fuction can play video and pod casts--look at the video on the D3 at Sema, shows the Icons on the top in the ipod menu. I hope the z1 gets this update!

 

Looks pretty cool, wonder what the price differential will be between that and the Z1.

Been wanting to get a Z1 installed but the local custom shop wont cut any breaks on unit pricing and wont install outside purchased units. Interesting to see if some of these updates migrate to the Z1, might make it worth it.

 

I think I might wait now to see if the Z1 gets the update. I need to sell my Eclipse AVN5435 w/ Sirius and Ipod. Know anyone interested?
