I have two questions. First, can you program in a default city for when you enter destinations? I know you can enter your home address of course, but it doesn't seem like you can program in your starting city as a default. It's annoying have to put Austin in each time, or searching POIs by all the locations in Texas when the list comes up.

Second question is, I've heard people talk about getting DVDs in the mail. Are these updated DVDs that you ordered? It kind of sounded like you all got one free DVD or something to bring your NAV up to date, after purchasing the car. Which is it? I have map version 6.1 I believe and it seems pretty up to date but quite a few POIs are just not in there, and they've been there for 5-10 years. Is Texas to big so they just leave a bunch of crap out intentionally? Would suck if so.

Ok, one last question, any tricks that most don't know about? or stuff that you didn't figure out until months after using it. Closest thing I've come to fitting that bill is that you can hit "map" while navigating to a destination and it pulls up the map and shows your next turn in a small box on the bottom right. Hey, I've only had the car half a week, I know it's not a secret feature

 

6.1 is current. Don't know about defaulting the city, but it keeps the state in its memory at least.

haha, I didn't even know about turning "short menus" off, whoops. So many more options now

 

It doesn't have a default city, but it does keep the last 5 used cities in a hot button. And, yeah, turning off the short menus make it considerably easier to use. I just discovered the other day that after I add an address to the address book I can rename it to a vanity name so I don't have to remember whose address belongs to who. I love this thing, I want a NAV system on any car I buy from here on out!
