Default Speed is reading double on my avic n1

i finished installing my stereo tonight everything worked great other then the speed reading is reading double on the speedometer. I hooked up to the white wire on the middle plug. the middle plug has 2 white wires one with a strip and one with out. I hooked it up to the one without the strip. I know i read somewhere that there is a 8 pulse signal and a 2 pulse signal, just wandering if i hooked it up correctly.

Should be the white wire WITHOUT stripe - there are light gray rings around my wire ever three inches or so but no stripe.

If it is reading double the right speed it is most likely a setting that needs to be changed in the unit. There is only one speed signal in the car, and it doesn't change.

It sounds like you used wire that was twice the gauge it was supposed to be, so the HU is getting double signal. Try a thinner wire to cut back the signal throughput.

There is a flaw in your reasoning, wire is circular, so you can't just cut in in half. I believe there is a calculation somewhere involving pi!

What no flux capacitor?

The flux capacitor would be needed if the unit was reading HALF of the correct speed.

That was totally my mistake. So, something more like:

((pi*r^2)/2)*C

Where C is the current circumference of the wire. That should yield the new diameter, in radians, which you'll need to calculate the gauge from.

... I hate myself.
