Default Dash not clipping in

I installed a single din alpine in my car the other day because i couldnt stand the bose head unit skipping. Sound good now and seems to hit harder on the sub and what not. Im going to put in a Kenwood in a few months but im short on cash.

Now to my problem. I cannot for the life of me get the top of the center dash thing to stay in place all the way. right up top by teh 3 gauges allways separtates from the rest of the dash. Ive removed the peice several times trying to fine the problem and cant seem to. I just wont stay.

Has anyone else had this problem and if so what did u do?

Two things to check,

1) Make sure you don't have wires that getting in the way.

2) Make sure you are putting in the screws to the left and right of the cubby. These are the ones that hold the top half in place.

I know a lot of people with the same problem. It's a bad design. The very top does not clip into anything. I can't access the upper screws since I have a screen. Chris repaired his using springs, but I'm not sure what he's talking about without pics. It's not a very good design by Nissan. Anymore suggestions?

+1 on the wires getting in the way. I had the same problem and found that my ground wire that I ran to the lug in the upper left corner of that area was blocking the darn clip from finding it's way home.

had same problem here. Open up the metal clips on the right and left side of the console piece. insert the top portion first, then snap it in place. Make sure you hear the clips snapping in place.

you should find "metal clips" brass colored behind the center dash where arrows are pointing. I dont have a picture of the clips but you'll know exactly what to do when you see them. Like i mentioned before, open (widen) the clips so that they snap into the holes.
This is a picture indicating where the clips snap in.The arrows the next picture describe where the top three "plastic" hooks are located. when reinstalling, make sure you slide those in first as much as you can into the top area of the dashboard. Then, with the side of your fist, hammer the center dash into place and youll hear the clips snap into place. I hope this helps, sorry couldnt find more descriptive pictures of clips
