I seem to have done something wrong with my sub setup...
I have two JL 8" behind the seat in a custom box I made out of MDF. I get a lot of flutter or reverberation. I have a feeling the box maybe too small for the 8". Any suggestions? I am wondering if I should just go with one 8". I tried to put a 10 in the box but the way it slants the magnet made it so it would not fit.

Re: I seem to have done something wrong with my sub setup...
Few things I have noticed...
1. It sounds ok as long as it is not turned up high.
2. Rap music seems to make it worse
3. It also sounds and feels weird coming from behind the drivers seat
4. I think I am going to have to go to a 10" and setup something in the back
5. This sucks because I have already returned the 10" for the two 8" I have now. Also I spent more than a day building that box.
uuuuggghh
It was so much easier in my CL. I had a box I bought from a store. I had nice sub with a cheap amp and it sounded perfect. Took me all of about 4 hours to install including the dynamatting of the trunk. This car has been a nightmare as far as the sub install goes.

Re: Re: I seem to have done something wrong with my sub setup...
Ok I think I have decided what will be best even though I will have wasted a lot of time.
I am swaping these 8" for another 10" w3 and going to build a custom box on the side in the back. I hope I can get away without using fiberglass as it seems to be a pain in the *** not to mention I don't have a garage.
I should have known better than to stick the sub that close to me.

WebToker, here is a really cool site that can help you understand all of the parts of an audio system:
http://www.eatel.net/~amptech/elecdisc/caraudio.htm
On the right side, scroll down until you see Basic Enclosure Calculations and it will help you figure out exactly what side box you need to build plus alot of other cool info. Very informative site.

Loading your sub off the hatch (corner loading) will ALWAYS sound better than putting the sub directly behind your seat (6 inches away). This allows a fuller bass wave to develop by the time it reaches the listener. Leave it to the engineers at Bose to forget this very important principal...
Kudos to those Bose engineers...
