Default Radar detector mount

I looked around and decided to buy this mount for my Escort 8500 X50. I have called 3 times and sent an email several days ago. Has anyone bought one of these lately? Are the people very responsive?

Defiantly get that one, I had purchased mikes and the countryjoy mounts, and I went with the countryjoy. The whole thing is metal and also the z emblem. Mikes defiantly was good but I didnt like how it was made with plastic and the z emblem was just a sticker.

My review of the countryjoy radar mount from countryjoycrafts.com --

I took a leap of faith and ordered one. It arrived 3 days later via USPS. I went to install the mount and after tightening the screws all the way down it was still loose. After messing with it for another 20 minutes I decided I was probably sent the wrong one (I specified 2006 350Z). Their FAQ:
7. If your mount is too loose, you got the wrong size! Don't blame the mount, you measured incorrectly!
I didn't order the wrong thing because my reciept even stated 2006 350z! I ended up shimming the thing up with black tape so now it isn't that loose.

Bottom line:
a) craftmanship was excellent
b) customer service is non-existent
-- they don't answer or return calls despite what is posted on their site. I tried 4 times during business hours THEY posted and never a return call.
-- e-mails go unreplied, sent 3 e-mails with no reply.

Their website is laced with little customer digs like that. Its a little strange for a site trying to sell something. altough the mount does look nice.

The instructions have digs like that too. That doesn't bother me as much as the customer no-service. Although the mount is top-notch it stinks paying $40+ for something that doesn't fit as advertised.

Sorry. Should've ordered the Mikes Mount. Although I don't know it his works w/ an '06 mirror. Didn't know there were different sizes on the mirrors mounts.

To the OP, nothing against Mike, his mount is basically a piece of crap. The difference between the two is Mike's "Z" emblem on the front is a little sticker on it and the whole thing is made out of cheap plastic. The website you posted the link to has a mount that is not made of cheap plastic, it's made of machined aluminum. My roomate bought the one from Mike, and I spent a little more money and got the one that you posted the link to. Needless to say, once I put mine on, he threw his away and bought the one I had. I'm sure Mike's a good guy, but when you skimp on money, you get what you pay for.

Also, with Mike's mount, my roomate wasn't able to get it snug up underneath the rearview mirror and it would freaking vibrate like hell when he was on any kind of bumpy road. The higher quality one however is very tight underneath the rearview mirror and does not rattle at all.

Ianmtx,
Let me clear up a few things, Mike's mount is made of acetal (Delrin) which costs 2 times as much as aluminum. All the hardware is stainless steel. It is machined on a CNC mill. The selling point is not the "Z" sticker but a small profile mount the fits under the mirror. The mount clamps tightly to the mirror shaft and if the detector rattles it is the fit of the suction cup bracket in the detector. As far as the cost, I am a "Z" owner that made a part for my "Z" that I thought other "Z" owners would like. I sell the mounts as a hobby not a busness. I have sold over 400 mounts only to members of the Z and G35 forums. No one has ever complained about the workmanship!!! I take it personal the you call it a piece of crap. Do a search and read coments of other members.

from what i've seen mikes mounts kick some serious ***. Plus wouldnt you rather support a fellow 350z enthusiast than some random company. It also just so happens that mikes mount it much better, and i plan to be purchasing one soon. Big thumbs up to mike for an awesome product, keep it up.

I have mike's mount, used it until I went built in detector. Worked flawlessly, I did not put the Z sticker on, so it was very low-key. It does what it is supposed to do, hold the detector.

Default Got my mount from Mike!

Mike ships faster then my radar detector's manufacture (Cobra). I got the rest of my parts (extra power cord) today and installed it all in about 10 min.
Hardwired to the mirror power and no sloppy wires hanging around.

Looks good! Thanks Mike.
