Default Kenwood Bluetooth

Does anyone have it on their Kenwood HU?

I was wondering what everyone thought of it and how easy it is to use.

Default Kca-bt100

Are you talking about the Kenwood KCA-BT100? I was thinking of getting it when before it came out. But now that its out, i haven't seen the best reviews for it. That and it costs $200. I'm probably going to end up with the Motorola T305, its got some good reviews and its cheap ~$60.

Yes I am talking about the BT100.

I have seen mixed reviews also but also the majority of the reviews are better than any of the other aftermarket headunit controled bluetooth.

Motorola has a few BT devices that i was looking at, the IHF1000 and the HF850. These are hardwired to the car, but the new T305 is just basically a BT headset but with speakerphone and a few buttons. Its simple and supposed to work real well. That and i really dont' feel like ripping apart the car again to put in the kenwood BT100. I'm curious, so leme know how it goes.

Make sure your phone is on the list on compatible BT devices, I've heard a lot of phones simply don't work.

All BT Phones work, the issue is with the phonebook download. It will not let you download your phonebook with some devices. Even with that issue it is carrier related not the KCA-BT100.

I double checked that on Kenwoods website yesterday. My phone works with the Kenwood BT (import phone book, signal indicator) just does not show battery level. But I could care less about that.

Hey guys I have the KCA-BT100 installed on my 6019. It works great as far as making and receiving calls. I had a razer and now I have the new BlackJack phone and they both worked just fine.

I have not tried to load my phone book though.

How is the clarity of the calls on your end and the person you are talking to?

Real good. If I am not moving they say that it is better quality on the bluetooth than when I have the phone to my ear.

I would highly recommend getting one. You will not regret it.

I am doing the install myself.

I have the Motorola handsfree one but thinking bout ripping it out and going for the kenwood one. I have sound going through all four speakers and it sounds terrible. basically you connect it to your kenwood receiver just like a cd changer and runn the mic to your desired location. I currently have mine by the sunglass holder. You can get the KCA-BT100 on ebay for $150. Hopefully this thing offers caller id...

Product Description:
Don't be unsafe with your Kenwood CD player and Bluetooh ready cell phone... use the Kenwood KCA-BT100 Bluetooth® interface adapter and make it easy to set up a hands-free wireless connection between your Kenwood car stereo and your Bluetooth-compatible cell phone.

Bluetooth technology uses an all-digital connection to offer better sound quality and more range than other wireless options, making it the perfect choice for hands-free conversations in the car. Simply mount the interface box out of the way, connect it to the CD changer input on your compatible Kenwood stereo, clip the included mic onto your sun visor, and you're ready to go! You'll be able to send and receive calls with using your Kenwood CD player or video unit, and even download your phonebook listings into the unit for easy one-touch dialing.

The KCA-BT100 can handle up to five different phones, so even the most talkative people are covered! The KCA-BT100 also offers a pass-through port so you won't have to give up your CD changer or iPod connector options, even with the Bluetooth system connected.

Key Features:

* Bluetooth® interface adapter for Kenwood stereos
* offers wireless connection between Kenwood car stereo and Bluetooth-compatible cell phone
* send and receive calls with the stereo's controls
* pass-through port lets you keep your Kenwood CD changer
* handles up to five different phones

I have the mic located to the right of the steering wheel, I mounted the bluetooth in the glove box and wire was too short to make it to the rear view mirror. (I mounted it in the glove box because I have sirius and they have to be connected, it was easier running one wire to the back of the radio) I will try to post a picture tomorrow.

That is true but other than a downloaded phonebook the BT100 does not allow you to manually enter the numbers into the phonebook. At least I could not find a way to do it. I hope someone proves me wrong.

I just got an email from Kenwood techs. I asked if there was a way to manually enter numbers in the BT100 phone book since my phone will not download to it. Here is their reply:

"No there is not. You need unregister the phone with the bt100 then contact your cell phone company and ask them how to send single phone book entries to another bluetooth device. Then after sending them then register the phone with the bt100"

Pretty crappy design for a unit that almost $200, IMO.

This is all the information you should need on the KCA-BT100 even though it probably is not the information you want to hear.
