Friends,

I am planning in installing new front speakers on my 06' z. Does any one know how deep can I go with the speakers. The speakers I am planning in getting are 2.56 deep/65mm.

I mounted a set of Infinity Perfect 6.1 speakers with a mounting depth of 2.75". I needed a bit more than a normal one inch spacer and had to build my own 1.25" spacer with the woofer off set ever so slightly forwards and a bit down from the stock mounting location. It looks like you can get by with the normal 1" spacers - Zenclosures sells custom ones for the Z on e-bay.

I cut the factor speaker out of the factory mounts using a pair of tin snips and then mounted a pair of Boston Acoustics Z6's on the stock mounts and they went in fine. The best part was the ease of putting the factory mounts back onto the door.

In the process now of installing an upgrade. A set of Wicked CAS door pods.
