How big a difference will I hear between a JL 10W1 and a 10W3?
As the title states... is it worth the upgrade to the next step up and dual voice coil?
If so, how should I run it? Depending on the version I order and how I wire it, I can run it at 210 watts at 4 ohms or 420 watts at 2 ohms. I like the bass to be as clean as possible...

A. N. Thiele and Richard H. Small did a bit of work that is important to the sound of a subwoofer. The physical parameters of the speaker motor interact with the interior volume of an enclosure. Speaker manufacturers adjust these parameters to design them for a certain size box volume. A good motor in a bad cabinet will sound loose, boomy, or muddy - a fair speaker in a proper sized cabinet will sound better than that more expensive/or better speaker.
It's easy enough to ruin or correct the sound of a speaker.
So is your current speaker a good match to your current box?
Running a lower impedance allows the low voltage amplifiers to supply more current which is a good thing.

I have one of Nazar's corner magic boxes. He says both the 10w1 and 10w3 are a perfect fit in it. I bought a 10w1 before I saw that a 10w3 would also work, so am wondering if it'd be a significant difference in sound to go from a 10w1 running at 210 watts at 4 ohms to a 10w3 running at 420 watts at 2 ohms?
Yeah, I probably do need to play with the tuning some more. I just ordered the 10W3v3 2 ohm version to run at 420 watts. Harder hit is what I'm looking for (I assume the upgraded sub at twice the power will give me that); the SQ of the 10W1v2 is just fine, but the bass gets a little lost at moderate volume levels when driving due to road noise and my Nismo exhaust (depending on the type of music I'm listening to). I know sound deadening would help that (I put in some), but it's a properly loud sports car that I like to be able to hear. Anyway, I'd rather have too much bass that I can dial back than just enough... 'course I maybe have a little bit of the "gotta have the bigger, better one" bug as well...
