Sound proof question
For those that dynamated or other sound proofing material. Did you have to clean the area before you applied it?
I got Fatmat (simlar to dynamat, but cheaper) and it comes with a clean solution. I wonder if this is necessary? I mean its a new car and i've check the trunk and looks really clean, don't feel and dirt or grease.
Also do you need to zap it with a heat gun to make it stick better. I might do this but not sure if its good or bad.

I've been using Fatmat to sound proof my Z and haven't cleaned anything. Be careful Fatmat sticks to anything. If you are going to put on large pieces I'd suggest folding back a the backing and just have a strip of the sticky part exposed. Then put the Fatmat in place and pull off the rest of the backing.
No heat gun required.
