Default Cost of new system?

How much would it cost to replace all 4 speakers, sub and throw in an amp (how many do I need?)? I have a nice aftermarket deck already so I'm on in that dept. But how much for the rest? I want something reasonable.

4 speakers, 2 subs in a box, 2 amps, I would estemate 3k not incl install..

checking prices just now, you can get a nice set up for about 1800 plus wires and assorted bits.

Yea i am doing it around 2k with a $900 for the hu. I have 1 amp already but will probably replace it later. You can get a good system easily for 2k with a cheaper hu. I am installing myself this weekend yea....

5 ch amp: ~$600
rear coaxial speakers ~ $100
Front components ~ $225
Sub ~ $250
Zenclosure's custom sub box ~ $120
wiring, RCA's... ~ $60

so for $1,300, you could have a decent system.

Minimum = $700 self installed

HU - $175 via crutchfield (includes all wires, harness, dash kits)
Amp - $200 via ebay 4 channel
Front speakers - $100 components from ebay
Sub - $75 via ebay (one 10")
Box - $100 via ebay
Amp kit - $50 via ebay

Choose whatever brand you like. Run the 4ch amp to the fronts and bridged to a single 10" sub.

This setup will sound great and please anyone looking for a decent stereo. It won't get crazy loud, it won't impress in a parking lot, but it will enhacne every area of listening while in the car.

HU, amp, sub, sub box, cables, and install cost me around $600. I had to REALLY shop around though. And the HU is total garbage. Replacing that this coming week.

If you have a nice HU I would start with just new front components. That'll make a world of difference.

i say:

1. decent set of comps upfront: 250 ish range
2. forget rear speakrse
3. decent 3 channel amp to powr things 250-300
4. box and 10" sub: 200-250

IMO the front speakres makes more difference than anyhting else in the car, power and bass is cheap, and bass espeically in the Z with hatch gain...

this is what i would consider a budget entry level ssytem that would sound good...

I found it was all the "other " things that pushed the total cost up, ie. PAC unit, iPod cabling, Metra kits, power & speaker wiring. I'm doing the install myself and don't have things like wiring just lying around to be used and so I had to buy as required.

Wait, so no rears? And why the box? Can't the sub be fitted where the stock 10" sits? Finally, what's an amp kit?

No, none needed or just run the stock ones for "fill"

No, it cannot be mounted in the stock location w/o ALOT of work costing a good deal of money to make it sound good.

An amp kit will be power wires, an inline fuse, ground wires and RCA interconnects to carry the sound from the CD player to the amp (you also get a remote turn on cable in this). Sometimes they include speaker wire too. Knuconcepts has good kits.

Alright, so here goes:

- Which front comps should I buy?
- Which amp? What brand, power, # of chans?
- Which 10" sub?
- Which box? Amp rack on top needed or where does it go?
- Amp kit: Knuconcepts for sure? What's their site?

Also, keep in mind that I don't wanna spend a whole lot. I'm gonna have this car for another 1.5 yrs tops.

- Which sat radio component for my Pioneer HU? This one?

I'm not even close to being an audiophile, but I've been doing research for my own car for the last month, so maybe I can share some of the things I found. What's your budget?
