Should I have Metra kit painted to match?
Tomorrow I'm taking my Z into Innovative Audio to have an Alpine CDA-9815 head unit installed.
They said for $75 they could paint the Metra kit to match the silver color of the dash.
So here is my question. For owners that have the Metra kit, do you feel like it's color looks out of place? Do you think you'd be happier if it matched the color of your dash?
I've looked at a few pictures, and it doesn't look at *that* different.
Thanks!

I saw a Metra kit painted silver somewhere on this board and it looks great, but they want to charge you $75.00 to paint it... WOW thats a lot for a can of Krylon IMHO.

I think $75 is a fair price to match the color perfectly, paint it up right, and guarantee the work.
I found a look where somebody painted their own, and it's metalic silver and I don't like it at all.
Anyways, given that there is plenty of black around the car, and the deck itself is black anyways, I think I'll just leave the black look.

Thanks. It's installed now, and I didn't get it painted. I actually think it looks great the way it is. Being black it actually matches the headunit great. I'm very pleased with the way it looks.
As for the feature of the head unit, no kidding! They need a "Alpine Headunits for Dummies" book

Dash
Hey jason - i just bought the same head unit for my black track!!!
i bought what is called a "custom" dash kit from crutchfield (it's on it's way) it looks GREAT in online pics!!! but $75 is too much for a paint job! I run a NAPA auto parts store - i will be able to match up a spray can of paint somehow! I'll post what paint you could get at napa that will match (even if it's too late).
