I just received an '03 Nav Door Console for my '04Z and I noticed that the door remains in the open position. I try to pull it down but there is nothing in place to lock it. Is the compartment broken or is it motorized? If I install it, will the door open and close automatically? Thanks in advance for your help.

 

you need a finisher piece from an '03 as well in order for it to latch..

This is an 03 cubby w/ the rubber mats, and without.

 

is the rubber matt standard for the 03's? my 05 one didnt fit. I also noticed that the finish on the 03 doesnt match the 05. is that normal?

 

I would assume the finish on the 05 cubby is nicer than the 03 and removes the need to even have a mat. There's actually one mat that covers the smaller base of the cubby and then 2 visible screws. The other bigger mat that you see pictured covers that and comes out and over the lip.

My guess would be that in 03 they need to do something about the plastic so they threw in the mats. But in later years it wasn't necessary. I dunno though.
