Default Double Din Headunits

I am thinking about getting this headunit.
http://www.crutchfield.com/S-hcwAWMt...50&I=113DPX501
It is a double din and has an optional HD radio tuner. Does anyone have this particular model? What types of double din headunits are people here using.

Ha! I was about to suggest Kenwood's new DPX line but looks like you've found it. It looks very promising indeed, but I have not yet seen one of our members with it. I am looking into the DPX-701 myself.

By the way, if you prod around online, you will find deals much better than what Crutchfield is offering here. I found the 701 for less than $300.

I don't really need anything too fancy. I will be putting this in with my computer. I just wanted something to fill the whole space that was compatible withh HD radio.

usmanasif where did you find the 701 for under $300?

EDIT:
Well I see here on ebay it is under $300.

Actually, I found it through Price Grabber. I think Sonic Electronix is the retailer that had it for sub-$300. They had some excellent reviews on the PG. I would avoid buying it off eBay.

EDIT: Here http://www.sonicelectronix.com/item_7192.html I must, however, add that I have not purchased from them in the past and thus, cannot vouch for them. They seem to get very good reviews online, though.

I don't mind buying off ebay if the person has good feedback. That seller has excellent feedback. However, I might just end up ordering it from that sonic site. Thanks for the link.

not quite sure how clean it would look in the dash, but it should work fine like all kenwood headunits...

one good thing about crutchfield is customer service, 100 percent refund returns, factory warranties...and prompt service..

but headunit is one thing i dont mind my customers buying off the web, they rarely fail wtih in the time perior of the warranty

good luck

I would stay clear of sonic electronics. They tried to rip me off recently.

Default Dpx-701

I have the DPX-701. I've had it for about a year now almost. The only problem i have with it is that the little joystick (on the right) that is used to disc navigation. It can be a little annoying to use sometimes. I actually prefer individual buttons for pause, stop, rewind, fast foward, etc. But otherwise i am happy with it. You can PM me if you got any other questions, or just post it up here.

I got it for just under $300 shipped, another Z member recommended a site. So i will pass on the favor.

Looks very neat. Just curious: Why not connect the flash drive directly to the USB port instead of using the cable?

I have the DPX-701 and I used do plug the flash drive in directly, but about month ago a friend accidently hit it had broke it from the tip. Flash drives tend to be fragile and the end breaks pretty easily that's why they send you the extension cable that your suppose to use.

That's a whack *** looking HU... I have never been fond of Kenwood products. But the USB looks cool... if it would interface with a portable hard drive it would be cool.

I bought this USB extension just for that reason. It swivels in any direction. Not bad for $10.

Do tell,

I was looking through their products and was considering ordering from them since they seem to have the cheapest prices around.
