Hi everyone. I'm in the market to buy one of these nice looking 10" sub enclosures from zenclosures.com for my 03 coupe.

I have mix feelings choosing between the standard rear strut bar or the type S model. How do they compare in sound quality, trunk rumble, weight difference, or any other suggestions or information from first hand users would be greatly appreciated.

Well If you're talk about the Box with the amp rack. I just installed one with a 10w7 and it sounds damn good. It weighs less then 40 pounds. If thats what you are worried. But other then that. The best thing i've purchased for this car yet.

it's a great box! I almost never use the that area of the trunk, so I don't notice the space it takes up...plus I love that it's impossible to see from the outside - 1 less reason for someone to break into my car. I did a full write up here: https://my350z.com/forum/audio-builds/236698-installed-zenclosure-s-new-s-type-sub-box.html

you know you want it!

I had bought the box that goes with the amp rack for my W7, but sold it the sub before I could install the box. (that's the one I have for sale)

i just got the box that does not protrude past the strut bar for the W6V2 today, and can't wait to put it in. I just need a damn drill!

Excellent build quality, and excellent sound quality, with the right amp and sub of course.

have any of you put dynamat in your trunk? I have a 12" sub in the rear and I was looking to get the zenclosure box but right now there is just alot of rattle from all the plastic.... anyone recommend the best areas to cover?

I have some of the trunk covered in dynamat. the best spot is over the tire wells because a sh*t ton of road noise comes from there. then start tapping and see where it rattles. i basically did the entire trunk from the point where it dips down to the back, and up the rear part. I didn't want to add too much dynamat because of the weight, so i stopped with that. If i had to add more, I would do the firewall and the doors next.

btw, just put in my 10w6v2 powered by my 500/1 in the zenclosures box and it looks awesome and sounds pretty good. i don't think i'm gonna miss the extra thump of the W7 i had, like i thought i might. then again, i have been driving around without a sub for like 3 months now so that might change eventually. the box is great quality, and fits super snug so i'm not worried about it sliding back under hard driving. still need to wait for the sub to be played a little longer, and get some more tuning in to get a good feel for the sub though (not that my tuning is anywhere near as intense as paul350z's).

thanks Mike!

oh, and to help the OP out a little. the standard under strutbar box weighs around 22lbs.
