Default iPod video/headunit question. Is it possible?

Is it possible to display the video from the iPod on the screen? I have a Kenwood DDX-6019. If it is possible, what connections/cables are needed? I'm pretty sure it won't work with just the standard iPod interface that jacks into the CD changer port...

I don't think it is. I have my Ipod connected to my DDX-8017 and it seems to have the worst Ipod functionality ever. The manual is also worthless when it comes to controlling the Ipod. It would almost work better to control the Ipod from the Ipod itself instead of through the headunit. Maybe someone knows something I don't.

All new kenwood units will have the option for this, There will be an i-pod cable that plugs in for a real fast connection.

Can't wait...

kca-ip300v is the model number

It will be compatible with the new DDX-7019 and DDX-8019 And the new all in one DNX7100 We will have these available if anyine wants them very soon.

I have a ddx 8017 and the kenwood ipod adapter, and i agree on how useless it is, normally i pick music and then just plug it in, its much easier than using the interface on the screen. I also bought the apple ipod av cables for 19.00 dollars and hooked it into one of the video imputs. Its just a standard rca cable with a headphone jack on the other end. It lets you watch the video on your screen, you still need to control it with the ipod, but its the only solution i found. It works pretty well and is cheap. new clarion unit has the ability to do this. saw it in crutchfield. one of the only head units that can do this. as mentioned, the upcoming kenwoods will be able to do this as well.

davidnavone.com sells a universal Ipod Video Cable with RCA Outs (And Power IN) for about $30

I have purchased from and spoken with David for years, his products are TOP quality and he is a stand up guy.

Hmm, well if the iPod interface on my headunit is as worthless as everyone is saying (I just have a shuffle hooked up to the aux input now), I may just go this route, then, and control the music selection from the iPod itself and have video capability on the same input to boot. Thanks for the link!

Is the sound quality the same with this cable setup as it is with the standard iPod to CD changer input cable?

It's terrible that the Kenwood has such a horrendous hookup for the Ipod. There's almost no point of using the Ipod with the headunit if you still have to control the Ipod as well. Hmm...I may give this cable a thought, I just hate taking the whole radio out to do it.
