Default Subwoofer Box Design Question

I was wondering how the placement of a subwoofer in a box affects the sound (if any). What if I wanted to place a subwoofer in a sealed rectangular box, except instead of mounting the sub in the center of the box, I install the sub all the way to one side (either right or left) of the box. Well, I hope someone read a speaker box design book and can help me out here.

On the subject of sub boxes. How would it sound to put 2 subs in front of the strut bar in glassed boxes in each corner... right below the little side windows?

depends on the subs and their effiency......it will most likely create "boomier" bass as opposed to the tight accurate base you will get where there is the correct volume of air infront of the woofer to replicate the sound
