Need help wiring MB Quart PCE216
Guys,
I was doing the install today and ran into a question.
The mid has two sets of terminals on each side. On one end, there is a "Screw" (i am assuming its positive) and a flat terminal (negative).
On the opposite end, the same combo exist.
My guess is that the model allows the tweeter to be installed as a coaxial.
I am doing the components method.
From the user's manual, it looks like I have to connect the positive of one side and the opposite side, I would connect to the negative.
Can somebody confirm this please.
Is the "screw" represent a positive polarity?
Manual is not that clear. Here is the link to the manual. See page 6.

Dude,
Don't waste your time on this forum trying to get an answer because if you wire it incorrectly you will essentially be throwing your money down the drain.
I would call several shops that do this stuff every day and get a consensus before I did anything.
Don't want to screw anything up by wiring wrong, RIGHT??

Or you could put a little faith in your fellow Z members.. who would post a link to the pdf installation manual

At the bottom of page 6 you will find the diagram you need to connect the wires properly

Ichigo,
I did look at the page. But doesn't it show both connections going to the "screw" like terminal? Dam german engineering LOL!! On the crossover, it has a negative/positive connections for it.
Anybody know the real answer?

One side of the speaker is positive and the other side is negative regardless if it is the screw or the spade type terminal. The reason for this is to let the installer decide which type of connection they want to make. Either with the screw type connection or putting a spade connector on the end of the wire and sliding it over the spade connector. Most installers will use the screw type connection.
Duke,
Thanks for the reply. What makes it confusing is on the crossover it has
W(-), W(+). How do you know which side is it coming from the woofer. In your response, then it doesn't matter.

After looking at it more LOL!!
On one side, both terminals seem to share the same piece of metal(the metal piece touches it each other).
On the other side, the screw is connected to a wire that goes to the cone. The spade terminal doesn't seem to contact anything else.
So which one is neg and pos?

I think I got it. Bottom is negative (where the two terminals share the same piece of metal so you basically can choose any terminal). Top is positive (the screw like terminal, it doesn't connect with the other terminal on its side- there is a plastic that divides it).

From the diagram it looks like each side is one polarity the top terminals in the diagram are positive and the bottom negative. which one is which you can determine with a AA battery.
If the speaker isn't marked:
If the speaker isn't marked:
- connect the battery to the speaker (briefly)
- If the woofer moves outward you connected the + battery side to the + terminal of the speaker
- if the woofer moves inward you connected the + terminal of the battery to the - terminal of the speaker

confused me too when i installed mine!! basically look at the tabs and forget the screws. one tab is wider than the other. the wider one is the positive so you can plug this with an insulated female or use the screw.
After looking over the second speaker, I discovered that the screw and spade terminal are the same (they are each connected by a piece of meta and joint togetherl).
As far as which side is the positive and negative, I look at the user manual again and found that the grid with 3 lines (pattern) is the negative side. The positive side has one plastic piece instead of the 3 lines.
